In the tradition of the CalArts Graphic Design Department, I took part in Ed Fella's Workshop on Future Flyers. I created a double-sided flyer for a lecture I would give at CalArts in 30 years.
The project, 99 Styles, was a class assignment that allowed experimentation and exploration in form and typography. The 99 Styles project was based on the book, "Exercices de style", by the French author Raymond Queneau) for my typography class at CalArts. The author wrote a story 99 ways, in 99 styles and tones. I got the "Negativities" anecdote. During this project, we made many versions and variations in the realm of sympathetic, representational, ambiguous, and antithetical. In the end, the result would be a mixture of everything in typographic and biomorphic/abstract forms that we've created overtime, creating a palette of different techniques and explorations. It was then finalized and printed at 24 in' x 36 in". "Creative Tantrum" poster designed to express "wildness". I was inspired by creative messes, and creative processes.
